MOCCAMASTER

SUITED FOR: FILTER
The Moccamaster is a premium automatic filter coffee machine, designed to brew consistently excellent coffee with minimal effort. Hand-built in the Netherlands, it’s known for its precise temperature control, fast brew times, and high-quality construction.
Ideal for home brewers and cafes alike, the Moccamaster takes the guesswork out of pour-over style coffee. It heats water to the optimal range for extraction (92–96°C), maintains an even flow rate, and completes a full brew in just 5–6 minutes. The result is clean, balanced coffee with great clarity, especially well suited to lighter roasts.
The same brewing principles apply to other high-quality batch brewers, like the Breville Precision Brewer. With the right ratio, grind size, and freshly roasted coffee, these machines offer a consistent and delicious filter brew without manual pouring.
What you'll need
Moccamaster Brewer (1.25L or smaller)
Freshly roasted coffee (ideally roasted for filter)
Filter papers (usually size #4)
Grinder
Digital scale
Kettle (for pre-wetting)
Filtered water
Stirrer or spoon

RECIPE FOR 1L
Dose: 60g coffee
Water: 1 litre (1000g)
Brew ratio: 1:16.6
Grind: Medium (similar to table salt - a bit finer than French press but much coarser than espresso)
Water temperature: Moccamaster heats to approx. 92–96°C automatically
Brew time: ~5–6 minutes
STEPS
Insert your filter paper
Place the paper in the brew basket and run some hot water through it to rinse out any paper flavour. This also preheats the carafe, preventing heat leech from your brew.
Grind your coffee
Weigh out 60g of coffee and grind it medium coarse, or weigh out 60g pre-ground coffee.
Add ground coffee to the brew basket
Make sure the coffee bed is level. Give the brewer a gentle shake side to side to flatten it out.
Fill the water reservoir
Add exactly 1 litre of fresh, filtered water to the Moccamaster reservoir. Start the brewer.
Pulse stir during blooming (optional but recommended)
Once the first bit of water hits the grounds, wait about 30 seconds. You can give the mix a gentle stir to help saturate all the coffee, preventing an uneven extraction.
Let it brew
The rest of the water will drip through automatically. Avoid lifting or adjusting the basket during the brew. The brew will take around 5–6 minutes total.
Serve and enjoy
Once the dripping slows to a stop, remove the basket. Swirl the carafe gently to mix before serving. This helps distribute all the flavours evenly.

TIPS FOR SUCCESS
- If the coffee tastes sour or weak, try grinding a bit finer.
- If it’s bitter or dry, try grinding a bit coarser.
- Don’t skip the pre-wet and stir, light/medium roasts often need that extra help with even extraction.
- Use freshly roasted coffee within 2–4 weeks of roast date for best results.
