Kenya, Gachatha AA
Built in 1963, The Gachatha Farmers Cooperative Society currently has 900 active members. These farmers have on average, about 300 coffee trees on a small parcel of land. They will typically grow other crops alongside their coffee, increading the biodiversity in the area.
The surrounding area of Gachatha is densely populated, meaning producers have to take particular care when disposing of waste water and pollutants. The surrounding locals work alongside the farmers to ensure the indigenous flora and fauna are protected, a testament to the true spirit of community.

why is transparency important?
As a small business, we pride ourselves on supporting our coffee producers, ensuring a more sustainable income and lifestyle for their families and communities. We believe presenting the prices we pay for our coffee adds to an ongoing industry movement of transparency and accountability and in doing so, helps ensure the sustainability of the industry we love.
