Ethiopia, Refisa

Within Oromia, roughly 400 km south of Addis Ababa, lies the charming Nensebo Woreda—an area rich in both culture and agricultural heritage. Here, around 5,000 hectares of coffee are tended by smallholder farmers, each with an average farm size of just two hectares. These farmers cultivate a stunning array of heirloom coffee varieties, many of which trace their origins to the wild, forested regions nearby, giving the beans a unique and complex flavour profile.

This year marks our sixth purchase from the Refisa Washing Station, and once again, we’re captivated by the versatility of their coffee. Whether brewed as a silky espresso or a vibrant filter coffee, it consistently delivers a cup that’s both rich and nuanced, with a balance that stands out in every sip. It’s the perfect showcase of Nensebo’s exceptional terroir and the dedication of the farmers who call this region home.
