DIMAS IS A METICULOUS COFFEE PRODUCER OF THE COMMUNITY OF MARCALA, IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LA PAZ. EVERY MORNING THE 42 YEAR OLD GETS UP VERY EARLY TO TEND TO HIS SMALL FARM LA MONGOLA. DUE TO THE DIFFICULT ECONOMIC CLIMATE OF THE TIME HIS GRANDFATHER HAD TO SELL THE FAMILY FARM MANY YEARS AGO. YEARS LATER, THROUGH THE EFFORTS OF HIS FATHER, THE FARM WAS RECOVERED BECAUSE OF ITS GREAT SENTIMENTAL VALUE. NOW DIMAS WITH HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN ARE THE PROUD OWNERS OF THE FAMILY HERITAGE WITH A COMMITMENT TO THE PRESERVATION OF THE FARM AND THE SURROUNDING FOREST. PRODUCING VARIETIES OF CATUAI, BOURBON AND CATURRA CONVENTIONALLY WITH TWO HARVESTS PER YEAR WITH THE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE OF IHCAFE AT ELEVATIONS ABOVE 1500 MASL HAVE ENABLED  A VERY APPETIZING MICROLOT FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS. THE HARVEST IS CARRIED OUT WITH WORKERS FROM THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHO HAVE BEEN TRAINED. WITH PLANS TO BUILD HIS OWN MILLING STATION IN THE NEAR FUTURE, HE CURRENTLY MILLS HIS COFFEE IN A PRIVATE MILLING STATION NEARBY THEN DRIES THE COFFEE ON SHAKERS AND TAKING AN AVERAGE OF 8 TO 10 DAYS. THIS IS HIS THIRD TIME PARTICIPATING IN THE COVETED COE PROGRAM WHICH HAS GREATLY HELPED TO IMPROVE THE FARMS PROCESSES AND ITS FORAY INTO THE SPECIALTY COFFEE MARKET.
